Need Assistance?

Financial Assistance

  1. Must substantiate need for assistance and live within zip codes served.
  2. Must be employed or very recently unemployed (within 2-3 months.)
  3. Must be primary resident of the home in which rent/utility is being paid.
  4. Must have a signed, legal lease.
  5. Must have at least 3-month history at present residence. MAC will not assist with utilities at a previous address.
  6. For rental assistance, landlord must be a legitimate realty company. If there is an individual landlord, you must bring documentation (i.e. property deed) to show that this individual is the property owner.
  7. Must be able to verify that you have sufficient income to keep up with future rent/utility payments if MAC is able to help this one time. MAC requires that the total of rent and utilities combined must be 50% or less of total, verifiable, monthly take-home income. For example, if your rent plus utilities amount to $400/month, you would have to show take-home income of at least $800/month.
  8. MAC cannot assist with rent in government subsidized housing such as Atlanta Housing Authority or Section 8.
  9. Must provide any additional documentation necessary to substantiate need for assistance (i.e. receipts from unexpected bills or doctor reports).
  10. You are expected to pay as much as possible toward the rent or utility bill.
  11. Lifetime limit - one-time assistance.
